Understanding Auto Insurance Claims

In the United States, it’s mandatory that every car owner should have car insurance or at least should have the minimum amount to pay for their car damage. Most people think this is just an extra expense and don’t take it seriously until and unless they have been hit by an accident. When you claim auto insurance, this could include a variety of vehicle related incidents.

What Is Auto Insurance

Auto insurance, as defined is the claim which you request for the insurance company to pay.

This payment is requested for when a vehicle goes through any sort of vehicle related incident. This insurance claim could be made by the person them self, or the company who owns the car or the third party who sustained any loss.

Liability Claim

Liability claim is the first type of auto insurance. Liability claim is made when the third party claims insurance, for instance if you cause damage to someone else by any means which would result in an accident then you would claim for insurance and your insurance company would have to pay for their loss, injury, hospital expense or even rehabilitation expense.

First Party Claim

first party claim is when you yourself get into an accident and have to cover for its loss. This is when you ask your insurance company to get your car made or rather pay for the expenses that occurred due to the accident.

Go Through Terms and Conditions

When you buy an insurance policy, the terms and conditions would be mentioned to you in which you would be told the amount which would be paid to you if you get into any incident. This means that the insurance company would cover the minimum damages but it would go maximum to the extent which the policy allows to. For instance if your expenses exceed your policy limit then you would have to cover the remainder of the amount on your own. Where as on the other hand, physical damage coverages work a bit differently. For instance you have an accident then the company would pay you the actual cash value of your vehicle on that particular date. This would be the value of the car which had been there had the accident not occurred.

When you request for a claim then the company would evaluate the whole vehicle, this means that they would send professional valuer’s who would come and assess the vehicle, take pictures and write down about the state of the car to make the claim is legitimate and not a fraud. In most cases it has been seen that people make claims which are based on fraud, due to this such insurance companies work with state insurance departments in order to prevent it.
